Dumbledore isn't gone forever!

Harry Potter fans had to say goodbye to one of the best characters of the series after Professor Snape kills him, but now they can rejoice because he's coming back. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them director David Yates, who also has signed on to direct the second installment, confirmed that Dumbledore will appear in the sequel. Yates also confirmed Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) would return.

"In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He's got a couple of good scenes with Newt," Yates dished to Screen Rant. "We're discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good."

Watch: "Fantastic Beasts" Cast Talks Johnny Depp's Secret Cameo

In the trailer for the first Fantastic Beasts movie, Colin Farrell's character is seen interrogating Redmayne's Scamander about his Hogwarts expulsion and why Dumbledore liked him so much despite his troubled past. Perhaps in the sequel fans will learn a little bit more about the magizoologist's relationship with the academic.

As J.K. Rowling's screenwriting debut's release date approaches, more and more secrets are getting out. Recently it was revealed that Johnny Depp would be appearing in Fantastic Beasts, a secret that the cast had to keep close to the vest.

"Wait, Johnny Depp is in this movie? We know nothing. We can reveal nothing," Redmayne joked to E! News. "One of the wonderful things about making this film was the story that J.K. Rowling had written and the surprises and secrecy for it."

Other cast members, however, confessed that they didn't even find out about Depp's casting until the last minute.

"We didn't have to keep it for that long because we only found out shortly before it was released publicly, luckily," Alison Sudol confessed to us. "And we've had to keep so many secrets at this point that we basically are used to having to be vaults."

"I didn't know until very late so I didn't feel like I had to keep [it a secret]," Farrell added before cracking a joke. "I don't have any friends so."

But what did remain a secret, however, is Depp's role in the franchise.
