Take out your notepad: There's a new way to wear floral prints.

The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards revealed a new trend that's sure to amp up your fall wardrobe: 3-D florals. The print of the past were secluded to the girliest of girls, mostly accompanied by a sentiment of fragility. Those days are gone.

Floral prints have been replaced by embroidery and applique, giving more dimension to the garment. This season, designers are matching this style to sheer fabrics, adding edge and sophistication to the modern style star. Go a step further and mix embroidered florals with tough materials likes suede and leather for a sweet-yet-badass juxtaposition.

Equally sexy and classy, stars showed us how to do this trend right on the Emmys 2016 red carpet. For example, Kristen Bell took first place with her stunning Zuhair Murad gown.

The contrast between the conservative, long-sleeve design and playful florals makes Nina Garcia's Valentino dress so interesting to the eye.

The 3-D florals add texture to Giuliana Rancic's ethereal gown.

Maisie Wiliams' floral applique might as well be fabric patches—something so on-trend with denim at the moment.

Felicity Huffman is another showstopper.
