That's because, duh: It's the Emmys! Television's hottest stars gathered in downtown LA tonight to honor their best and brightest—and to drink some celebratory champagne, too. Okay, a lot of celebratory champagne. But before we get started with handing out the awards and watching all of the moving speeches, the celebs have to make it through the red carpet.
A-listers aplenty made appearances at E!'s Live From the Red Carpet to dish to Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy about, well, everything. Stars like Sarah Hyland, Ellie Kemper and even the cast of American Crime Story made appearances, and you won't believe what they had to say. Or, actually, you will believe it, because we're dishing it all up right here.
"I'm just so grateful for my body." — America Ferrera preaching the damn truth, but also waxing poetic on finishing her very first triathlon yesterday, which she ran to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
"Was I next to Beyoncé?!" — Ellie Kemper wondering the same thing as everybody when it comes to her seating assignment.
"I'm just medicating my nerves with food." — It seems that Tony Hale's pre-Emmys ritual is very similar to what ours would be.
"I didn't even know what shipping was before that!" — One of the many lessons that Sterling K. Brown learned after his turn on The People v. O.J. Simpson. (And yes, he's talking about that insane chemistry between Chris Darden and Marcia Clark.)
"If you make an ugly face on purpose, then you can never be like, oh no, I look ugly." — Sarah Hyland schools us in professional selfie-taking.
"If we win we dance all night. I'm not going to work tomorrow." — We like the way you think, William H. Macy.
"It was a hot apple pie from McDonald's." — Keegan-Michael Key dishing on the first time his fame earned him a free dessert at a restaurant. Score!
"I don't know why I'm here, I'm not on television. My show's on the Internet, but now they consider that television." —Jerry Seinfeld doing a perfectly Seinfeld-esque bit.
"I try to suck in my cheekbones. If you ever see me and it looks like I'm in a mood, it's not because I'm being moody." — James Corden shares his insider tips for taking the best paparazzi photos.
"I asked the guy to do donuts, and then he did!" — Maura Tierney hitched a ride to the Emmys in a golf cart, and in true badass fashion.
"I cry a lot in my own life, but I feel like I'd be the flirt or the goofball." — If Constance Zimmer were on reality television, we now know which trope she would be.

"I might still smell like urine, I don't know." — The glamorous life of parenting, according to Kristen Bell. Luckily she has her trusty bottle of amber oil from Whole Foods to keep things fresh.
"I just wanna get in the Beyhive." — same, James Corden. SAME.
"When we were kids we used to write each other letters every time we were leaving each other for different cities." — No jokes here, it's just Rami Malek telling us about his relationship with his cousin (who he brought as his date!) and being the cutest ever.
"I would advise them to stop smoking pot in the green room." — Amy Poehler has a lot of wise words for her girls from Long Island.
"My friends are dropping by and taking advantage of the free food." — Claire Danes on the best part of shooting Homeland in her hometown.
