Shannen Doherty has gotten her head shaved, almost a year after she revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and has shared with her fans intimate photos of her heartbreaking physical transformation.

The 45-year-old actress, best known for her roles as Brenda on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Prue on Charmed in the '90s, posted six black and white photos of the process, including a pic of her cutting her own hair and a snaps of her mother and friend embracing her.

She had a couple of hours earlier posted a color pic of a cupcake pan, a box of Ferrero Rochero chocolates and a box containing an electric shaver.

"#cancersucks #thankgodforfriends," she wrote

Model Anne Kortright-Shilstat was the one who shaved Doherty's head. Both women posted a photo of the two after the task was completed.

"@theshando I couldn't be prouder of you today," Kortright-Shilstat wrote. "Your strength and courage is so inspiring and I am so very lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for blindly trusting me today to help you with such a big step. I will forever be there for you no matter what. #f--kcancer."

Fellow '90s TV icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, posted one of Doherty's pics on her Instagram page, saying, "#wcw It already takes a strong woman to fight breast cancer, but it takes an even stronger woman to share that journey. @theshando you are not fighting alone, you have the thoughts and prayers of not only all of us that know and love you, but the rest of the world too. #f--kcancer."

Doherty had revealed her cancer diagnosis last August when she filed a lawsuit against against an accounting firm she claims failed to make payments on her medical insurance without her consent or knowledge. The company has denied any wrongdoing.

In her suit, the actress claimed that when she obtained coverage again, a doctor discovered she had "invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node." The actress also said she was told the disease had likely spread during the time when she was uninsured. The case is pending.

Doherty also said at the time she is set to undergo chemotherapy and have a mastectomy. She then made her first red carpet appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis in November, appearing at the 2015 Baby2Baby gala.

Doherty has since spent time traveling. In June, Doherty, husband Kurt Iswarienko and her mother visited Australia.

During the trip, the actress met up with her Charmed co-star Holly Marie Combs at the opening night of Opera Australia's production of Carmen at the Sydney Opera House and also made a celebrity appearance at the 2016 Supanova Pop Culture Expo in the city.

Thank you #Perth for the great panel. Some amazing questions today. Hope you enjoyed it #supanova
