After announcing on Friday that he had lopped off his signature brunette locks, fans waited with baited breath for the first sights of the 22-year-old crooner with his new look. By the following week, those highly coveted first photos emerged of Styles walking in London with his shorter 'do.

Fans have been itching to see the pop idol without his signature waves since he posted a mysterious photo of a chopped braided ponytail with a thumbs up on Instagram, sending the world into a digital frenzy.
One clever fan took advantage of the mania by using Snapchat's FaceSwap filter to put Styles' face on his head with his shorter cut.
"Harry looks cool now he cut his hair," English teen Ellis Lacy tweeted Saturday, sharing Styles' photo with a Snapchat photo. Lacy also shared a video using the same filter, saying, "Hi, everyone. It's Harry. Thanks, everyone, for liking my new haircut. Thanks, Ellis Lacy, for getting my photo out there."
While it was all one big, fat hoax, fans were successfully fooled. Fortunately, his charitable reason for the drastic change was revealed Tuesday.
"A little while back he had expressed an interest in supporting us," Wendy Tarplee Morris, co-founder and manager of the Little Princess Trust, said on the U.K.'s This Morning. "Then all of a sudden he did it." The trust collects donated hair to create wigs for children battling cancer.
