This gorilla has been on the cover Time magazine, met stars like Robin Williams and learned sign language. But the gift she recently got for her birthday is something that is truly special to her.

Koko turned 44 years old in July and The Gorilla Foundation decided to set her up with a kitten adoption! Koko doesn't have children of her own but she loves baby dolls and cats, so her handlers knew her maternal instinct would immediately kick in once she saw the kittens.

Upon meeting the adorable kittens, Koko fell in love with one and another fell in love with her. She gently strokes the baby cats and signs the word "baby" to her trainers in the video.

The footage was taken on July 4th and since then Koko has responded well to the furry little friends.

"Not only have Koko's maternal and play instincts kicked in," it says in the video, "but she is signing more to her caregivers and generating new content everyday that can be used by The Gorilla Foundation to create empathy for great apes."

Koko's trainers say that she has told them that she wants children but mating attempts with other Gorilla's have been unsuccessful.

Koko was the subject of a bestselling book called Koko's Kitten written by her trainer Francine Patterson. The book was about Koko and the kitten she received when she was 12 years old who ended up passing away.

The Gorilla Foundation said they are thinking about making a sequel featuring Koko's new "babies."

"The Gorilla Foundation is now considering a multimedia sequel to the classic book, Koko's Kitten, which has already reached millions of children worldwide, and has the power to motivate millions more to learn how to make the world a better place for all of its conscious inhabitants," they announced.

Koko and her kittens currents live in Woodside Hills, California. Our biggest question is: can we meet this adorable family?!
