Kylie Jenner is firing back at critics who claim her latest photos, which show her wearing dark, shimmering makeup, constitutes blackface.

Following the backlash, the 17-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star edited the caption of her original Instagram post, which she had shared on Saturday afternoon.

"This is a black light and neon lights people," she said. "Let's all calm down."

She also posted later that night a new pic of herself sporting the same look, which appeared to have been taken for a photo shoot, as she gave credit to her beauty team.

Kylie also addressed the controversy on Twitter:

In the pics, Kylie's makeup appears to be a plum color and she also sports indigo, purple and hot pink hair. It is unclear if she is wearing a wig or if her futuristic doll-like locks are mostly the product of Photoshop.

Disney Channel star Zendaya was among the original commentators. She initially "liked" the pic" and then said, "Eff it up," adding the clapping hands sign emoji. After fans began questioning her remark, tweeted, "I didn't see it like that at first…that's crazy," adding "My baaaaadddd."

Jenner had earlier on Saturday also posted a second photo, which has since been deleted, that was captioned, "What I wish I looked like all the time."
