It's definitely not a secret anymore—Kanye West is a family man.

The "Only One" rapper appeared on Ellen and opened up about how married life and having a family has changed him for the better. Kanye's antics over the years have gotten him into some hot water, but explained that marrying Kim Kardashian has taught him to be a "better human being."

"I've definitely learned how to compromise more," he dished. "Which is something you have to understand when you partner with people in business.

"And I've learned how to shut up more," he added. "Yeah, I think I'm a better human being because of her, and because of my daughter."

The 37-year-old rapper-fashion designer also explained that the reason for his sudden shift in attitude is a result of realizing that he has to think of his family at all times instead of just focusing on himself.

"I always have someone to think about going home to," he explained. "And, you know, something for me to be brave for what I want to do for humanity, but also to be more protective of myself for my family too.

"Cause there are things I've done in the past that were considered negative, but I was really jumping in front of the tank for other people or for culture in a way, so now I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect too," he added.

He even talked about his famous Taylor Swift incident at the 2009 VMAs, when he stormed on stage and insisted Beyoncé deserved the award for Best Female Video. Liking the incident to his daughter's, North West's, issue with communicating because of her young age (she'll be two in June), Kanye that and his other outbursts were due to his frustrations in his career.

"I think I was going through my version of my terrible twos," he said. "My daughter, she wants to express herself, and she just doesn't have the words for it. And for me, there was so many things I wanted to do with film and clothing, and I just didn't have the words or the resources or the backing or the perception that I could do it being that I was a rapper.

But it wasn't all bad! He said that some of his antics have brought him some good fortune!

"The definition of crazy is trying to do the same thing and expecting a different result," he mused. "So I tried something different over the past couple of years and I actually got some really good results from it too."
