Getty ImagesThe makeup trends we saw at the 2015 SAG Awards were definitely among the more predictable this awards season. Smoky eyes, bold lips and eyeliner looks are far from breaking new ground. But as the stars made their way down the red carpet, we couldn't help but love how their subtle makeup contrasts and individual styles had us applauding their red carpet beauty looks.
Emma Stone, Patricia Arquette and Laura Carmichael wore their orange-red lips against completely different color backdrops, but still all managed to have their pouts be the standout of their looks. Maisie Williams went the deep Bordeaux lip route which added the perfect touch of drama to her curls.
Nashelly Messina, E! Style Collective member and founder of Fabulatina.com, also agrees on Emma's look.
"Her gown and accessories, together with her hair, makeup and those bold lips resulted in a fashion slam dunk. One of my favorites of the night," says Nashelly.
A smoky eye is a makeup look that can get intense fast, but our stars had the perfect amount of eye contour for the red carpet this year. A great way to subdue the drama while keeping things interesting is by going lighter on the lid and making the liner the most color-prominent part of the look.
Here we see how Uzo Aduba, Keira Knightley, Reese Witherspoon and Viola Davis gave us the perfect level of eye glam.
Some stars gave a nod to the minimal makeup trend with lighter lips and softer blush but added some drama by blending the look with statement eyeliner.
Claire Danes and Julianna Margulies kept defined eyeliner looks with flawless skin, while Naomi Watts and Felicity Jones went for more subtle smoked-out liner looks.
