New year, new baby!
Vanessa Lachey and husband Nick Lachey welcomed a baby girl Monday! The proud mom shared the happy news on her blog Tuesday, writing that she, Nick and the couple's 2-year-old son Camden were all "so excited" to announce the arrival of "our sweet beautiful baby girl, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey!"
"She was born January 5th, 2015 at 5:17pm. She weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, is 21 inches long and has already won over all of our hearts," wrote Vanessa. "I have been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember, the day I was going to meet my little girl. A friend recently told me how magical today was going to be because it's the day I would meet my best friend. I can't even begin to etell you how it felt to hold her in my arms for the very first time. Mommy, Daddy and big brother Cam love you so much already, Brooklyn!"
Camden is brand new to this big brother gig, but mom and dad did their best to prepare him for what was coming!
"We've definitely gone over the fact that, 'Hey, baby sister is in mommy's belly,' and he'll kiss the belly, so I think he understands what baby sister means and that that's happening," Nick recently revealed to E! News. "But I think the truth test is when she arrives and all the attention's not just on him! We'll see how he reacts at that point!"
Although she's experienced the ups and downs of pregnancy before, Vanessa was more than willing to share news details about her journey to motherhood the second time around as well.
The brunette beauty admitted to craving coconut oil and coconut water in recent months because they are considered "superfoods for pregnancy."
She also learned that you cannot compare your mother experience to others.
"With social media, people share mostly their best moments," she explained to American Baby magazine. "Don't feel like you're not doing enough when you see a mom posting about making applesauce after you bought it. Ha ha! It's fine! Just for raising a little human being you should be commended."
Besides, those closest to Vanessa can't help but notice her fantastic mothering skills with Camden that will easily be shared with her newest baby.
"She is over the moon! She is a very dedicated mother," Lachey's interior designer Tiffany Harris told E! News. "She is very focused on giving her children all the love and educational opportunities. Nick and Vanessa are very hands-on parents. Camden is like a Mini Nick!"
