American Idol

"You're going to Hollywood!"

Only one show has transformed those four little words into one of the most magical phrases in pop culture history. That's right, music fans, American Idol is back and our new panel of judges are on a mission to find this country's next singing sensation.

On tonight's season 13 premiere, veteran judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban returned along with the musically savvy Harry Connick Jr. Together these three music icons brought a fresh, fun and professional new vibe to the smash reality hit. In the first two-hours of the epic two-night premiere, viewers traveled to two of America's most talented cities and were introduce to a brand new generation of singing hopefuls.

The judges, along with their trusty host, Ryan Seacrest, began their daunting quest for America's top singer in two cities: Boston and Austin. Both cities brought forth unbelievable talent and at the end of tonight's two-hour episode, J-Lo, Harry and Keith handpicked 45 singers to travel to Hollywood.

One of the most noticeable and welcome changes of the reality competition was that unlike prior seasons, Idol did not waste precious airtime focusing on the "bad" singers. There were hardly any William Hung-esque performers in tonight's premiere and we personally were very happy that the producers only focused on the talented and not the desperate and camera-hungry.

We also are in love the new combination of judges and we're pretty sure that our hearts will now and forever belong to Harry Connick Jr. (Oh how we wish we could be that lucky contestant  that he ever so gently cradled in his arms. Sigh.) But now we want to know what you thought of our newest Idol threesome! Vote in our poll below and then take to the comments with your thoughts about tonight's season 13 premiere.
