Will Christina Aguilera use the Emmys to finally confirm that she’s pregnant?
Considering she’s going to be duetting with Tony Bennett on the 1948 Irving Berlin standard “Steppin’ Out with My Baby,” the time may finally come on Sunday night to announce once and for all what we already know.
“I’m looking forward to when she sings the line ‘Stepping out with my baby,’ ” Emmy producer Ken Ehrlich told Planet Gossip’s Matt Donnelly this morning at the unveiling of the new awards stage at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium. “That ought to be kind of cool.”
As for any special preparations being made for the mommy-to-be, Ehrlich said, “You know, we’re sensitive. I’ll let you know when they’re here for rehearsal.”
I’m told that Xtina begins rehearsing the number on Friday.
When asked if Aguilera has any plans to make such an announcement on Sunday, her rep said, “Nope.”
Meanwhile, Ehrlich confirmed my scoop that he wants “Dick in the Box” Emmy winner Justin Timberlake at the Shrine on Sunday. “We’re still talking,” he said.
However, a source just told me this afternoon that, sadly, J.T. will probably not be making it to the Emmys.
Ehrlich also confirmed the Kanye West news I first told you about a week ago. The hip-hop star is performing at the Emmys. “Kanye’s a pal,” Ehrlich said. “We’ve been talking about doing this for a while, but they just needed the right forum. It’s going to be a very funny piece.”
Sure sounds like it. As I reported yesterday, Office star Rainn Wilson is joining West for the gig. And I’m going to leave it at that. I think you’re gonna like the surprise.
As for the Shrine's new theater-in-the-round arrangement, ensemble casts will be sitting together rather than scattered about.
The new seating plan, Ehrlich joked, may cause some fun-filled rowdiness. He cracked that the boys from Entourage—Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, et al.—are probably hoping for some booze. “God knows, the guys are going to look to see if we’re serving,” Ehrlich said. “We won’t be!”
