Were Johnny Depp and Amber Heard just not meant to last for the long run?

Less than a year after getting engaged, the couple are having major issues and wedding plans are up in the air, sources tell E! News.

While Hollywood's hottest twosomes are almost always plagued by split rumors no matter what they do, the shadow darkened over Amber and Johnny after his appearance at the Hollywood Film Awards on Nov. 14. The Into the Woods star was slurring his words and seemed to be having trouble staying upright while presenting an award, leaving people to wonder just what the heck was up with him.

Reps for both actors have declined to comment on their relationship status, but one insider told us recently that Amber and Johnny are seemingly "constantly on the rocks."

Both "have extreme personalities and are both very intense people. Arguments are bound to arise," the source said.

It's unclear whether they spent the Thanksgiving holiday together, but Amber—who was spotted multiple times on the set of her fiancé's Whitey Bulger drama Black Mass over the summer—had been visiting Johnny less frequently, another source said

A source tells People, meanwhile, that Johnny is "crazy in love with Amber, but there is turmoil in the relationship" and Amber may not "be really ready to settle down."

The now 28-year-old actress met the now 51-year-old Depp on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary. Depp and longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children, confirmed in June 2012 that they had amicably split up after 14 years together.

Heard was previously in a relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree. She was first spotted rocking a huge rock from Depp in January, and sources then confirmed that they were engaged.

Johnny did indeed gush about Amber on Today in April, telling Savannah Guthrie that the Paranoia star was "a wonderful girl."

"She's sharp as a tack," he said. "A southern belle and sweet as can be, and very good for me."

There was no mention of Heard from Depp, however, in an interview published in the latest issue of Details. The Oscar-nominated thesp did tell the mag, however, that, while he was racing around at a "schizophrenic" pace, he felt as though he has reached the point of his career where "you care enough to not give a f--k because, not giving a f--k, that's the total liberation. Being game to try anything."

"It's been insane," he said about the wide range of roles he has played in recent years. "From White Bulger to the Mad Hatter, you can imagine the schizophrenia."
