Norman Oosterbroek did a fine job protecting some of the music world's biggest names, but in the end he failed to keep himself out of trouble.

The former bodyguard, whose past clients included Beyoncé, Jay Z, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, died this week after being Tasered by police during a home invasion—in which he was the intruder, police told the South Florida's NBC 6.

According to Miami-Dade Police, officers responded Monday night to a report of a man terrorizing a couple at their mansion in Pinecrest, Fla.

Cops arrived to find the 43-year-old Oosterbroek naked and fighting with homeowner Markus Jung, whose wife, Christiane, had called police.

Ooesterbroek and his family were reportedly leasing a home in the same neighborhood.

Police said that they witnessed the security company owner swallow an unknown substance during his violent confrontation with Markus Jung and he resisted officers' attempts to calm him down and get him into custody.

One officer zapped him with a Taser in order to subdue him, NBC 6 reported, after which he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"It's possible that he may have been under some type of a narcotics. Again, he was observed swallowing, ingesting some kind of substance, unknown substance that is," said Miami-Dade Police spokesman Detective Javier Baez. "I would like to know what really happened, because I don't understand why a naked man is going inside a house and for what."

Baez told the Miami New Times on Wednesday that they were still awaiting toxicology tests.

Meanwhile, some of those who knew Oosterbroek—or at least knew of his superstar clients—sound as shocked as any stranger by what happened.

"R.I.P Norman Oosterbroek... He was always super friendly, a gentle giant, when he was around everything ran smoothly," tweeted booker Daniel Merriweather of Pulse Recordings and Artist Voice.

According to the Miami Herald, Oosterbroek was a bodyguard for Nelson Mandela before founding RAD Security in his native Netherlands. He opened a New York branch in 2006.

Per the paper, his survivors include his wife, April McDaniel, and their two children.
