Most of us did a double-take when the news broke that Ashton Kutcher would be replacing Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men.

As it turns out, star Jon Cryer was just as shocked. Our own Ryan Seacrest chatted with the star on the Emmys red carpet and got the scoop on what his reaction was when he first heard the news:

"I heard it in a car; I got a call from [executive producer] Chuck Lorre," Cryer explained. "And I was like, 'OK...what on Earth is the show going to be now?"

That's understandable. After all, it isn't as though Ashton and Charlie have similar looks. But what if Charlie were to ever come back to the show? Could that be done? Turns out Cryer has a genius idea on how that could be done.

"We could have him appear. You know how when Jedi knights are killed and then they appear in later movies, and they are sort of blue and give advice? He could say, 'Use a condom, Jon.' "

That sounds like a perfect idea to us. Wonder if Jon's bounced that idea off Lorre yet.
