These newlyweds are reuniting—this time on his turf. Inside sources tell me that Rebecca Romijn (the divine Miss Alexis on Ugly Betty) has signed on to guest star on at least one episode of husband Jerry O’Connell’s new comedy series, Carpoolers.

Word is, Rebecca (who will be back full-time on Betty this season) will play the ex-wife of Jerry’s character, Laird, a ladies’ man whose totally un-PC one-liners and devil-may-care charisma steals many a scene in Carpoolers’ pilot.

Rebecca’s character name? It’s, um, "Joannifer" (don’t ask me if that’s how you spell it), which should give you a hint of the tone of this single-cam comedy about four guys who carpool to work, created by Kids in the Hall’s Bruce McCulloch. It’s quirky, it’s silly—and with Fred Goss of Sons & Daughters also on board, it’s smart and funny enough to be (dare I say it?) reminiscent of Arrested Development.

You see what I’m getting at, right? You must watch. (Carpoolers premieres Oct. 2 on ABC.)

Rebecca and Jerry (who got hitched July 14) last joined up onscreen during an episode of Ugly Betty last season, when Jerry played a jerkish jock who picks up Alexis in a bar—just to settle a bet with his buddies.

Something tells me the real-life, smoochy-in-love newlyweds’ interaction on Carpoolers could be even more deliciously nasty—if only to further prove how much fun it is when art does not imitate life!
