From floral/grunge fashion spreads to the neon sunglasses that your neighbour is sporting to a Spice Girls & Robert Downey Jr. comeback—its official, the 90s are back! And well, it’s safe to say that it is one of the recurring themes of this year’s fall TV lineup.

Last year the networks fulfilled our appetite for glamour and gossip with shows like Gossip Girl (love), Dirty Sexy Money, and Cashmere Mafia. This year we get to bask in all of our neon glory with the return of 90210 and a Christian Slater comeback. Yes, my friends take a look at some of the falls shows that have me feeling nostalgic.

90210

Rob Thomas, the mastermind behind Veronica Mars is the man responsible for reviving the hit series Beverly Hills 90210. With a sexy new cast including Canadians Shenae Grimes and Dustin Milligan and original BH alums Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth making a splash, you know this show is going to bring it. With Mike Piznarski (Gossip Girl) taking the executive producing/directing reigns for the pilot, be prepared for an even more salacious update of the series. A premiere date has yet to be announced, so until then you can wet your appetite with old school episodes of the original series—Who doesn’t love to drool over Dylan and Brandon?

My Own Worst Enemy

Christian Slater’s career was pretty much non-existent in the 00s. Sad but true. Lucky for him, Hollywood loves a good comeback story—umm, RDJ anyone? The True Romance heartthrob is back with a brand spankin’ new drama series My Own Worst Enemy. Slater plays two characters who share the same body - Henry the ho-hum suburbanite and Edward the badass operative. Yes, this heavy hitter explores the man vs. man internal and external struggle with Slater learning to balance the duality of his personalities. Doesn’t this remind you of a certain Heroes character, ahem Nikki/Jessica? Makes sense, considering Heroes alum David Semel takes on the executive producing duties…

Kath and Kim

Ok, while 90210 is a remake of the classic 90s series and My Own Worst Enemy is the return of 90s heartthrob Christian Slater, where the funk does Kath and Kim fit in? 90s fashion! The successful Australian comedy will be making an American splash this season with the wickedly cool Selma Blair and SNL alum Molly Shannon filling in as the Yankee Kath and Kim. These two lovely ladies play a mother/daughter duo who indulge in retro throwbacks; a major source of inspiration: 90s fashions—we’re talking big hair, floral pants, neon rags and acrylic nails—Quote me on this, THIS IS SOLID GOLD. Paul Feig (The Office and Freaks and Geeks) is the mastermind behind this show, and if his past works are any indication of how this show is going to be, you know you’re in for a treat.

All three shows coming to Global TV this fall.
