I don’t expect to walk away from the Pemberton Music Festival unscathed. If I haven’t sprained an ankle, been attacked by swarming mosquitoes, gotten covered by three inches of dirt and a nasty farmer tan, lost my voice, lost my phone and lost 10 pounds of sweat on the dancefloor I will be disappointed. And I mean that.

I’m looking forward to so much!

  • Letting Chromeo synth-gods Dave-1 and P-Thugg school me in fashion forward style …
  • Closing my eyes and bumping my head while DMC Champ DJ Dopey rocks out with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (I’m a sucker for strings in hip hop)…
  • Helping Metric’s Emily Haines take us behind the scenes on her stage show antics (There are few people more fabulous than this musical empress)…
  • Trying to spot an extremely rare Spotted Owl with the adorable Sam Roberts (I picture hiding in a tree, trying not to blush)…
  • Discussing the allure of Ivy League collegiate style and shedding the "world music" label with Vampire Weekend…
  • Watching Chris Martin collab with Jay-Z on stage as only super-rich and famous BFFs can do…
  • Dumping a bucket of ice cold water onto Jason’s head if it gets too hot (he won’t mind though…that means he gets to take off his shirt and show off his ridiculously hard body, tee hee)

It’s no wonder Pemberton is expecting 45,000 people…it’s a Mecca for music fans where the journey is just as important as the actual concert experience. Where the dust storms add flavour to The Hip, filthy feet make Nine Inch Nails more hardcore and the human traffic adds life to N.E.R.D. My my.

Now that Jason and I have already braved the death-defying gorge between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains on a zipline, I’m ready to eat the Pemberton Music Fest for breakfast. Bon Apetit!
