Looking to further quell rumors that Katie Couric is on her way out as anchor of the CBS Evening News, CBS Corp. Chairman Leslie Moonves popped by the newsroom Friday to assure employees that there are no major anchor-related shakeups looming.

Moonves and CBS News President Sean McManus had also joined Couric and Evening News executive producer Rick Kaplan at the latters' usual weekly meeting earlier in the day to alleviate some of the ongoing tensions borne of the network news' lackluster ratings with Couric at the helm. "They decided it was time that everybody was very clear where they stood and that they were not going to let news articles set anybody's agenda," Kaplan said. "They made it clear in everybody's mind that they were totally supportive of Katie and of CBS News."

"The intentions are good, but there are always more questions than answers,”  a staffer who wished to remain anonymous told the Los Angeles Times.
