Pushing Daisies

Fall TV's most delicious and unique new offering, Pushing Daisies, returns Wednesday on ABC, and I'm particularly fond of this episode because, well, I'm in it! Yes, I play a dead body (typecasting is a bitch) who comes back to life, and I have a line—a full 10 words—which you can see in the clip above. (And, um, whoopsie. It appears that it's down to seven now. See, my performance was that good!)

Here's what you need to know about my shoot, as well as what really goes on behind the scenes of Daisies. Ready for the scandal? Okay. Well, I was on set from 6 p.m. until 7:30 a.m., and throughout the entire night I only encountered a single grumpy person: some ghastly looking, white-powdered chick who was rudely staring back at me in the mirror of my trailer around 5 a.m. (I didn't catch her name, but word is she was playing Nude Dead Body. Total be-yotch.)

Everyone else who works on the show? An absolute dream. Honestly, from the hair and makeup peeps to the caterer, the PAs, the actors to executive producer Bryan Fuller, who could not have been more of a gracious (and hilarious) host.

My favorite moment? After we dead bodies (there were two of us) had settled down onto our gurneys and rehearsed the scene with Daisies' leading man Lee Pace, he called out a request to the director: "Hey, could we please keep the bodies covered up at first, so that these extras don't have to lie here all night?" He then whispered to us, "Trust me, it's gonna be a long night, and you'll be more comfortable in your trailers."

It's the stuff that swoons are made of. Especially because Lee had no idea I was a reporter and was just looking out for his fellow man. Très sweet, no?

I could bore you with countless stories of how gracious, kind and lovable the cast and crew are, but instead I'll allow you to see for yourself. While I was waiting around on set (blissfully away from the gurney), I took a little time to interview Lee (Ned), Anna Friel (Chuck) and Kristin Chenoweth (Olive) about their whimsical, wonderful show. Press Play below to see what they said, and then tune in at 8 p.m. Wednesday to get a full dose of "The Fun in Funeral"! (Don't blink, or you'll miss the Nude Dead Body.)
