Has Maverick set his sights on a new Iceman?

The Top Gun's teenage son, Connor, has been taking flying lessons at a Burbank airfield.

At his father's airplane hangar in Burbank this past Saturday afternoon—and after doing a few tricks on one of his two motorcycles—Connor boarded a small prop airplane for his flying lesson.

According to a source, Connor, with an instructor, practiced taking off, cruising and landing the Cessna 172 Skyhawk about three times. The teenager finished his lesson at 7:30 p.m. without incident.

Sources tell E! News it's perfectly legal for 13-year-olds to take flying lessons if they are big enough to operate all the controls (reach pedals, etc.) and have passed all required student exams.

However, according to the Federal Aviation Administration's website, he cannot get a license until he is 16.

At which point it's goodbye ground, hello danger zone.
