In a controversial move, Kanye West brought out DaBaby and Marilyn Manson during the event. As for the reason behind the appearance, a spokesperson for Marilyn tells E! News, "Marilyn Manson's voice is featured on DONDA, and he will continue to conceptually collaborate with Ye on the DONDA project."
Marilyn's appearance at the event comes two months after he was sued for alleged rape and sexual abuse by a former partner. He has since denied the allegations. Meanwhile, DaBaby came under fire in July after making homophobic remarks during his performance at Rolling Loud. In early August, he apologized to the LGBTQ+ community for his "hurtful and triggering comments."
For the Chicago listening session, Kanye replicated his late mother's home.
The spotlight was on Kanye and his celeb guests, including ex Kim Kardashian, during the Donda event.
While the listening party took place in Chicago, viewers online were able to stream the event from the comfort of their own home.
At one point in the performative event, Kanye appeared to be set on fire as viewers watched in shock.
