Shondaland's Best Couples—Ranked!
Ever since Grey's Anatomy introduced us to McDreamy in 2005, Shonda Rhimes and her team have been delighting—and torturing—us with more romance than we sometimes know what to do with. But not all Shondaland couples are created equal. So we here at E! News did the only reasonable thing: We ranked all 63 (!) major couples from Grey's, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder, and Private Practice (RIP). Will our No. 1 match yours? There's only one way to find out: Get to clicking!
63. Quinn (Katie Lowes) & Huck (Guillermo Diaz), Scandal
There's only one thing to say about this unholy hookup from Hell: NO.
61. Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) & Amanda (Liza Weil), Scandal
Poor Amanda Tanner. First, she slept with her boss, the President of the United States. And then she got killed.
60. Annalise (Viola Davis) & Nate (Billy Brown), How to Get Away With Murder
He cheated on his dying wife with her and then she used him as a pawn in the cover-up in her husband's murder. If it wasn't already clear, falling for Annalise Keating is a nightmare waiting to happen.
58. Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) & Ryan (Wes Brown), Private Practice
Recovering addict Amelia fell off the wagon when she met Ryan, and we mean fell hard. Then she woke up next to his dead body after a night of horrifying drug use and found out she was pregnant with his baby, which died in the womb. This relationship was brutal to watch.
57. Olivia (Kerry Washington) & Edison (Norm Lewis), Scandal
Edison was just a distraction for Liv as she continued to pine for Fitz. He proposed, she turned it down, and that was that.
55. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) & Tucker (Cress Williams), Grey's Anatomy
These two were happily married when the series began, but after their son was born, Tucker became resentful of Bailey's commitment to her career and left her in a particularly nasty divorce.
54. Quinn (Katie Lowes) & Gideon (Brendan Hines), Scandal
Dating Quinn (and prying too heavily into the Amanda Tanner case) got Gideon killed. So, not such a great pair.
52. Sheldon (Brian Benben) & Charlotte (KaDee Strickland), Private Practice
A dalliance with Sheldon was like visual Ambien for us, regardless of his supposed sexual prowess—which, just, eww.
51. Violet (Amy Brenneman) & Sheldon (Brian Benben), Private Practice
See Sheldon & Charlotte. Zzz.
49. Jackson (Jesse Williams) & Lexie (Chyler Leigh), Grey's Anatomy
A good excuse to get Jesse Williams' shirt off, but this relationship was just Lexie wasting time while ignoring her feelings for Mark Sloan.
48. Mark (Eric Dane) & Teddy (Kim Raver), Grey's Anatomy
The show needed a reason to get Eric Dane's shirt off when Mark and Lexie were broken up, and Teddy was as good as anybody, we guess.
47. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) & Michael (Matthew Del Negro), Scandal
Sure, Michael was a prostitute hired to seduce Cyrus as part of a plot to undermine the Grant presidency, which forced the two to get married so their relationship couldn't be used as political leverage, but is any relationship really perfect? (We kid. This marriage is a mess.)
46. Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) & Mellie (Bellamy Young), Scandal
Mellie gave up so much for Fitz, so how did he repay her? With a devastating, never-ending affair, naturally.
45. Alex (Justin Chambers) & Lucy (Rachael Taylor), Grey's Anatomy
Who's Lucy, you ask? Exactly.
43. Quinn (Katie Lowes) & Charlie (George Newbern), Scandal
Sometimes, they're trying to kill each other. Sometimes, they're making out. Ain't love weird?
42. Sam (Taye Diggs) & Stephanie (Justina Machado), Private Practice
Sam and Stephanie were happy until she found out he'd dated Addison and kept it from her. And then they were very unhappy.
