Like the original Crow and Blade movies, Underworld is a mix of high concept, high fashion and highly stylized art direction--but will leave you feeling low. Set amid a war between vampires and werewolves, supersucker Kate Beckinsale discovers that the furballs are after a human doctor (Felicity's Scott Speedman). That leads to Matrix-like battles.
..but also tangled plot twists. While the dark art direction will make any goth smile (or frown), and Beckinsale gives Carrie-Anne Moss a run for her Mylar, the film is just ludicrous. After awhile, it's difficult to tell the leather-clad, black-haired good guys from the leather-clad, black-haired bad guys, and when the drama slips into the silly side, things go from dark to dismal. It's best not to let this monster see the light of day.
