The Other Side of the Bed

Nominated for six Goya Awards (the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars), this lumpy sleeper must've lost something in the translation. A partner-swapping farce set in Madrid, the sexual shenanigans start with Guillermo Toledo getting dumped by girlfriend Natalia Verbeke. The bummed bud seeks comfort from close friend Ernesto Alterio and his girlfriend Paz Vega.
Unbeknownst to Toledo, though, his ex's new flame is actually Alterio, who's now torn between two lovers and, um, feeling like a fool. Okay, so he doesn't sing that lame pop song, but it couldn't have been worse than the ones used in this film. Yep, this is a musical, too, and that's where things go flat, with dopey ditties and choreography that's more frenetic than energetic. The appealing leads attempt to make it work but never get it off the ground. This Bed just isn't worth getting into.
