If you've been bemoaning the fact that there aren't enough movies about gay, Italian taxidermist dwarves in this world, well, uh, your prayers have been answered. The fact that it's a good, serious film about a gay, Italian taxidermist dwarf is just icing. Ernesto Mahieux, said corpse stuffer, meets and falls in love with young, straight Foglia Manzillo, gives him work and moves him into his apartment.
That they meet while looking at a vulture, however, is all the foreshadowing necessary. Mahieux's love remains unrequited, but his economic power over Manzillo keeps the young stud close at hand. Mafia complications and a jealous young woman enter the picture, frustrating Mahieux until even darker problems arise in this sad, subdued, strangely moving tale of outsiders and their obsessions. You think that's weird? This is based on real events.
