Kevin Spacey caused quite a bit of conversation on Twitter during the 2016 Emmy Awards, but it wasn't over his loss to Rami Malek for Best Actor or even his dapper Giorgio Armani ensemble or anything that actually had to do with him.
Rather, the talk was entirely focused on his plus-one, Evan Lowenstein.
If that name rings a bell, it's probably because it sparks some nostalgia. Lowenstein, 42, is half of the brother duo Evan and Jaron, a '90s boyband who saw success from 1994-2003. You may remember one of their most famous songs, "Crazy For This Girl" from 2000.
OK, so now that we know who he is, the question remains: Why did Spacey bring him along?
A source tells E! News Lowenstein is on Spacey's management team, and the two have been friends for quite some time.
Meanwhile, Spacey was in attendance at the Emmys as he was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Francis Underwood in Netflix's House of Cards.
In fact, he's been nominated every year for the role since 2013, but has yet to take home the trophy. On Sunday, he lost to Malek who won for his role on Mr. Robot, marking his first-ever Emmy win.
Malek made sure to shout out to Spacey and the rest of the nominees in the category. "I am honored to be recognized with such a distinguished and accomplished group of actors," he told the crowd, admittedly quite surprised. "Please tell me you're seeing this, too. Oh, my God. Thank you."
