Believe it or not, metallics are everyday-appropriate. Style them accordingly and you'll be shining bright all summer long.

Sure something like Olivia Palermo's fringe-heavy dress wouldn't be your first choice for a day at the office, but there's something to say about the way she's wearing it. Because the all-over metallic look is already a lot (in the best way), her choice in footwear and accessories brings it down to an incredibly relatable level. Invest in a pair of plain, black flats (they'll ground any outfit) and mirrored sunnies. The duo will disguise your loud look—et voila!—you've successfully nailed everyday-appropriate metallics.

These boots were made for statement-making. The easiest way to work metallic shoes into your wardrobe is to follow model Stella Maxwell's lead and pair them with an all-black ensemble. If you're up for a challenge, try rolling the hems on a baggier pair of light-washed denim and slip on a classic white tee. It's a casual yet style-heavy look that will have everyone asking you for outfit deets.

If it feels a little too inorganic to try and squeeze sequins or other heavy metals into your closet, here's a subtle option that will work for everyone and any style. Silk can sometimes have a metallic-like sheen. In Kate Beckinsale's case, her pajama-like trousers have just that. Work loose bottoms like these into solid-colored outfits—the simpler, the better. It's important to let the added shine do all the talking.

Metallic accessories are, for the most part, pretty commitment-free. You decide when to hold them and how you hold them—you're in full control of how little or big you want the impact. Model Elena Perminova is sporting her adorable mini backpack on her shoulders. She wants it to be seen as a part of the whole outfit. If you're feeling shy about carrying such a statement, hold your bag by the handle, keep it at your side and let the straps dangle. (Then ask someone to snap a photo of you because you need it for your 'gram.)

Topping off any outfit with a bold jacket is a great choice. You could be wearing the world's plainest outfit underneath and still look like a street-style star. Blogger Chriselle Lim is a prime example of this. Her cropped flares and T-shirt aren't anything new, but when she added the metallic blazer, her chic factor went through the roof.
