Orange Is the new Black is many things to different people. The inspiring dramedy has fans around the world, including Derek Jeter. The baseball star approached Uzo Aduba and Samira Wiley at the Soho House once and wanted to buy the two OITNB stars a drink, Wiley told us.
"He was so cute and so charming," Wiley told Kristin Dos Santos when we caught up with her months before the Orange Is the New Black premiere.
Blair Brown, who first appeared in season three and has a meatier presence in season four as lifestyle guru Judy King, said the show has the "weirdest fan base." "Probably Derek Jeter's grandma watches it," she said.
When it comes to normal everyday fans, Wiley said her meals out get interrupted a lot, but Wiley said one interaction at a pizza place in New York City stands out to her in particular.
"There was this elderly woman, probably like early 80s…she came up to me and didn't interrupt me or anything, she just put her hand on mine. She looked me in the eyes and said, ‘Thank you,' and walked away," Wiley said. "It was probably one of my most amazing fan encounters.
