It's a sad day for those that grew up on El Chavo del Ocho.

Rubén Aguirre, known for his role as Profesor Jirafales, passed away this morning. He was 82. The actor's costar and friend Edgar Vivar, who played Señor Barriga on the show, confirmed the news on Twitter. "Rest in peace my favorite professor…today my great friend Ruben Aguirre has left this earth. I will miss you dearly," he tweeted.

His daughter Veronica Aguirre confirmed to CNN en Español that her father passed away due to complications from pneumonia.
