When it comes to anti-aging, we'll have what the celebs are having.
They sure know their best #selfie angles, but what helps more than you might know is a highly regimented routine of Botox, fillers and other non-surgical plastic surgery procedures to keep them looking that good.
We're not pointing any fingers, but plenty of celebs have owned up to altering their appearances. For intel on the types of treatments they're doing for flawless faces (and bodies), we went to straight to celeb godsend Nurse Jamie Sherrill (Shay Mitchell and Jessica Alba have both taken to social media to shower her with love) of Beauty Park Medical Spa in Los Angeles.
First thing's first, we asked her to spill on what procedures most women ask for. "Ladies want lips like Kylie, with a bigger, fuller and rounder bottom," answered Nurse Jamie. But it turns out that's just the tip of the iceberg. "Most people come to me for filler and freezers or for laser treatments and skin tightening," elaborated the insider. These days celebs are doing it all: from non-surgical nose jobs to state-of-the-art technologies that zap fat and trim waistlines.
Let's investigate.
First, let's start with Botox (you may have heard of it). It's the OG wrinkle-freezer, but too many celebs have been left expressionless due to too heavy a hand of product to the forehead and eye area (crow's feet). To avoid a paralyzed face, Nurse Jamie injects tiny amounts of the paralytic into multiple areas of the forehead for a softer more relaxed look that lasts about three months. "This way, people still have full motion to emote and act effectively without their skin looking like an accordion," she explained.
Fillers, though, are a completely different category. "Filler is not about filling the lines, which is a strange and counterproductive thought…it's about restoring volume or augmentation to help lift the area where it is injected," explained Nurse Jamie.
That's probably why she uses them over Botox when clients have a day-of event (like the Oscars). For special occasions she uses her patented baby drops needle to administer hyaluronic acid-based fillers like Restylane or Juvéderm for natural looking results. "This treatment takes about twice the time of a regular injection, but the bruise-free results are absolutely worth the extra time," she shared.
In general, fillers (others are Radiesse, Bellafill, Belotero and more) basically plump things up and bring them back life. They're mostly used to soften lines (like nasalabiol folds and frown lines), improve acne scars, tackle cellulite dimples and plump cheekbones...sometimes, even hands.
Which does the nurse to the stars prefer? "Done well and right they are both great tools, but if filler and Botox were both drowning, I would save filler first," she shared.
But don't think that celebs just stick to injectables. They're also all over lasers, radio frequency and ultrasound for that extra-edge to keep your skin healthy and youthful.
"Light-based technologies have been designed for almost every skin condition, so in the war against sagging, wrinkling, acne and blemishes, discoloration, hyper pigmentation and hypopigmentation, veins, flaking and more—this is the best line of defense," she divulged.
While Nurse Jamie has more "toys" in her office than almost any in the country, she says celeb fans have their favorites, especially for bikini body season. "Right now, the SculpSure is the hot ticket in Hollywood treatments," she elaborated. The FDA-cleared laser treatment is a 25-minute procedure that sculpts the flanks, abdomen hips, legs, knees and stomach without any surgery or downtime. "This is literally a fat and circumference reduction treatment that is second-to-none." But it's going to cost you about $1500 per area.
So there you have it. You might not be a celeb, but at least you can rest easy knowing that it's actually a full-time job to look like one.
