There's no doubt that James Corden was a big hit last night for his work hosting the Tony Awards for the first time.
From his opening number to needing an asthma inhaler to introduce Barbra Streisand, we can't imagine he won't be asked back again next year.
But, of course, he had more material than he could actually use during the show.
One possibility that didn't make the cut was, we think, genius!
"We had one idea which was to go down outside the Richard Rogers Theater where Hamilton's on and take my Tony Award and see if people would swap their tickets for my Tony Award," Corden told me exclusively on the red carpet before the show began.
But modesty got the best of The Late Late Show with James Corden host. "We just thought it might just be a bit indulgent in the show to somehow go, 'Oh, look at me,' so we decided not to," Corden said.
Corden went home with a Tony in 2012 for best actor in a play for One Man, Two Guvnors.
Now back to Babs Streisand for a second. I had to find out if James has spoken to her about jumping in the passenger seat for some Carpool Karaoke.
"There have been some talks," he said.
Sadly, he was joking, but he did say he's certainly going to try to get her.
"I'm not going to ask her on TV," he said.
Why not? Just put on her on the spot, I suggested.
"That would go down great," Corden laughed. "That would be fantastic. She'd really warm to that."
Barbra, the karaoke ball is in your court.
