Despite romantic vacations and more than a few aww-worthy social media posts, E! News can exclusively confirm that Nina Dobrev and Austin Stowell have split.
"It started to get hard with both of their schedules," a source revealed to E! News. "They remain on good terms."
Multiple sources add that the split happened sometime around late January to early February. Perhaps that could explain the absence of any new couple shots in recent weeks.
Fans first began to speculate that the twosome was no longer romantic when the Vampire Diaries star went to Super Bowl 50 without her main man.
In addition, the couple failed to share any sweet Valentine's Day messages together over the holiday weekend. Instead, Nina hung out with her best girlfriends where no men were in sight. "Sunday Funday," she wrote. "#HappyGALentinesDay."
Romance rumors between the two first started last June when Nina was spotted kissing the Whiplash actor during an event at The Improv in West Hollywood. While they didn't walk the red carpet together, both talented stars looked very comfortable and happy together inside.
Things were later officially, officially confirmed when the couple shared some hilarious, innocent banter on Twitter.
"That weird moment when you realize you don't follow your girlfriend on Twitter…" Austin joked online. "#socialmediaproblems @ninadobrev."
Nina added, "That awkward moment when u realize ur not following him either & gotta do it realfast b4 he realizes @AustinStowell." And for those curious, they still follow each other to this day.
As both parties remain focused on their projects, fans will likely remember the good times the pair had. After all, who can forget Nina's amazing emoji-themed birthday party just last month?
"Austin and Nina were really cute together and you can tell how much they care about each other," a source shared after the celebration. "Nina was so happy so many of her close friends turned out."
