Watch: Courtney B. Vance Recalls Hearing O.J. Simpson Verdict

Courtney B. Vance is a well of good stories. The People v. O.J. Simpson star—he plays Johnnie Cochran on the series—opened up to E! News' Sibley Scoles about all sorts of things at the The 7th Annual African American Film Critics Association's Awards, including panstless dance parties. Say what?

"It was a great group of three directors who kept us on task and made things light and fun," Vance told us about relieving tension on set of his hit FX drama with dance parties. "[Cuba Gooding Jr.] would take his pants off every now and then and everybody had fun with that. [Sterling K. Brown] at the end took his shirt off…you have to do that, you have to have fun."

Were cameras rolling for that? Those would be great DVD extras...

Vance plays the late Johnnie Cochran in the 1990s-set series about the murder trial of O.J. Simpson. In real life, Vance was filming with none other than Scandal's President Fitzgerald Grant himself, Tony Goldwyn, and Nathan Lane when the verdict was read.

"Tony and I were watching it…and the verdict came down and I went, ‘Yes!' and he went, ‘Nooo!' and we turned to each other and were in shock. We were on complete other sides—we thought we were together…We had to talk about it," Vance spilled.

Imagine that conversation?

The People v. O.J. Simpson airs Tuesdays, 10 p.m. on FX.
