What had already been a rough enough year for Mindy McCready just took another tragic turn as the country singer was hospitalized this morning for an apparent attempted suicide.

The New York Daily News reports that McCready, whose longterm affair with pitcher Roger Clemens came to light in April, was taken to a Nashville-area hospital to be treated for wounds on her wrists.

“We responded to a '10-63,' that's a suicidal person call," Nashville Police Department spokeswoman Kris Mumford told the Daily News. "Mindy McCready was at the house. “Apparently she called the mother of her roommate and said some things that caused the mother concern. She called authorities. We responded with paramedics, who took her to a local hospital.”

This is not the first time McCready has tried to take her life. She was hospitalized in 2005 after swallowing a near-fatal dose of pills, chased with wine.

In July, she overdosed on drugs and alcohol, which sent her to the emergency room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She later checked into a Texas rehab facility following the nervous breakdown.

In October, McCready spent 31 days (of a 60-day sentence) in jail for violating the terms of her probation from a 2004 guilty plea for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers.
