In a Q&A hosted by YouTube today, POTUS sat down with vlogger Adande Thorne, who asked Obama a question the people really wanted an answer to: When it comes to the rap game, is he on team Drake or team Kendrick Lamar?
Surprisingly, the Commander in Chief didn't give a politically correct answer (ha, get it?), and picked a side. And unfortunately for the Toronto rapper, Obama said he's all about K.Dot (does this change your plans, Drizzy?).
"Gotta go with Kendrick," he told Thorne. "I'm just saying. I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer, but Kendrick—his lyrics, his last album was outstanding. Best album, I think, of last year."
This might not come as a huge surprise, because POTUS hasn't exactly hidden his admiration for the Compton rapper.
Along with stating that his favorite song is Lamar's "How Much a Dollar Cost," Obama hosted the 28-year-old artist at the White House.
Kendrick released a video for the "Pay It Forward" mentorship program, illustrating his time in the Oval office and sharing his experience with the president. "I look where I'm at today and realize that most of my success is owed to the mentors that was in my life," Lamar narrates over black-and-white video of him and a young boy playing basketball.
"I sat down with President Barack Obama and shared the same views—topics concerning the inner cities, the problems, the solutions and further more embracing the youth—both being aware that mentoring saves lives."
He concluded by urging viewers to support "My Brother's Keeper," the President's initiative that aims to create opportunities for young men of color.
