O.J. Simpson, welcome to your new home.

The disgraced football great arrived this morning at Nevada's High Desert State Prison, where he could very well end up spending the rest of his life in the wake of his conviction last week for an armed shakedown of two memorabilia dealers.

Simpson, 61, is one of 3,000 inmates in the all-male, medium-security facility. But he hopes he won't be staying there for his full term, which could stretch from nine to 33 years.

E! News has learned from a Simpson insider that the Naked Gun star is "cautiously optimistic" about his chances of being freed on appeal.

"O.J. has lost 20 pounds in prison, he's working on staying in shape and eating better," the source says, trying to put a positive spin on Simpson's incarceration, before conceding:

"He's also noticeably grayer because he's noticeably grayer because he's stopped coloring his hair."
