Too much, too soon?

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are dating, but they're not in a relationship—at least not yet. Though their reps have confirmed they are a couple (and flirty photos speak for themselves), Stefani made it clear that she's not into labels when she called San Diego's Frankie and Geena Morning Show on Channel 933 Tuesday.

Stefani began by discussing her latest single, "Used to Love You," which she wrote in the wake of her divorce from Gavin Rossdale. With an album slated for release in early 2016, the singer said, "I didn't even know the single was coming out. I promise you that it was very last minute. It's weird because 'Used to Love You' came out the exact same week as the 20-year anniversary of [No Doubt's] Tragic Kingdom, which just to me is like, 'What are the chances of that?' This is obviously...I would consider it a breakup record. Both of them were. It's like the two people I...I only had two boyfriends. I wrote two records about them. You know what I mean? It's just weird. It just makes me believe in God and my journey. My cross to bear was to go through these heartbreaks and write these songs and help people."

"I'm exhausted talking about it," she added. "I need to take a nap after this."

Frankie then segued into Shelton. "This song is a breakup song," he said in reference to "Used to Love You." He continued, "You're in a new relationship. Are there songs about newfound love or newfound relationships on the album?"

"Wow, that's really personal," Stefani said. "This is what I'll say about that: I never said nothin' about being in a new relationship. I don't know who said that but somebody did, and then my kid came in last night to tell me about it. That's how crazy my life is. People can just say whatever they want and then they can just believe it. My truth is 'Used to Love You,' that's the song. That's what I said and I feel really fine about sharing that, and I feel honored to share it. But, I mean, all the other stuff is just craziness. I mean, literally craziness. Hilarious. Hilarious!"

Shelton's name wasn't mentioned again, which allowed Stefani to continue talking about her new material. The singer admitted that it "feels good to know" that her music has helped people in similar situations. "I'm just this normal girl from Orange County...I don't know how this happened, but I'm really lucky," she said.

Stefani was also asked about NBC's hit series The Voice, which is where she met Shelton. "I love that show so much," the singer gushed. "Just being on there, being around so much music and watching this super talented kids, what they go through, and then thinking back to all the things I've done, it makes me reflect. It's one of the funnest things I've ever done really, I think."

(E! and NBC are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)
