American Horror Story is coming back (no surprise there), but what about its new star? Yes, we're talking about Lady Gaga.

In October, AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter and announced he invited the singer-actress to return for the sixth season (her second) of the show. "Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6," Murphy tweeted in October in advance of American Horror Story: Hotel's premiere. "Say yes @ladygaga!"

So…did she say yes? That is the million dollar question. Sources told E! News that Gaga has said she wants to return in some capacity next year but no deal is in place.

When E! News' Kristin Dos Santos asked Lady Gaga about doing another season of the show, she said,  "I think I'd like to do like one great acting project a year. I think one a year would be great."

She said she's interested in making a film, but it's "about the right people, the right project," and she's interested in writing.

"I really hope, like more than anything that anyone could take away from me being on Horror Story, I'd really, really like for artists and their managers and people in any industry to know the importance of caring for people that you work with and keeping them in a good mental state and taking care of their health and making sure that we're all OK," she said after praising her manager Bobby Campbell. "It's important to work hard, and making money is important to survive, but what's more important is that we support one another through the challenges of life, and I'm happier than I've ever been now because the people that I work with really, really care that my life is different and really, really work to make sure that I feel as normal as possible so that I can have a great time and just be a normal girl, and just be a woman for Ryan on film, or you know, a hemophiliac."

Season six of American Horror Story is set to debut in 2016. No cast was announced, but the season five cast also includes Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock.

"With the sixth installment coming next year, American Horror Story has unquestionably joined the ranks of television's landmark series," John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a statement. "From Murder House to Hotel, AHS has pioneered a new television form as well becoming FX's highest rated show—while also pushing every conceivable boundary of creative excellence and audacity. This is even more remarkable because Ryan and co-creator Brad Falchuk tear up the playbook every year, challenging the entire creative team to come up with something even more spectacular, frightful and entertaining. You could not ask more of an artist, their team or a series and with every new installment they deliver."

American Horror Story: Hotel airs Wednesdays, 10 p.m. on FX.
