While Madonna wasn't at last night's star-studded grand reopening of the Fontainebleau resort in Miami, her best friends Gwyneth Paltrow, Ingrid Casares and Alex Rodriguez were all in attendance.

"She's doing great!" Gwyneth told reporters when asked about how Madge is faring post-split from Guy Ritchie, adding that the singer was on tour this weekend.

A-Rod didn't answer any questions on the carpet about his rumored romance with Madonna, or anything else, but what happened inside the lavish bash was rather telling...

Although the hunky baseball player was approached by multiple lovely ladies, he didn't seem that interested. While he was talking politely to a particuarly persistant brunette, Madonna's BFF Ingrid Casares came over and ran interference, interrupting her advances.

Later, the baseball player was spotted deep in conversation with Gwyneth as the Victoria's Secret angels cut the opening ribbon mere steps away.

When Robin Thicke and Mariah Carey took the stage, the room was packed with celebs, including A-Rod, P. Diddy, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Terrence Howard, Chloe Sevigny and Martha Stewart.

The revelry was still going late night at Blade, where Alex and Ingrid shared a table together and Kate Hudson made an appearance. And the partying is just getting started: the actual Victoria's Secret show is tonight at the Fontainebleau.
