The brand took to Instagram today to announce a limited edition makeup collection that pays tribute to none other than the late Selena Quintanilla.
"Like the legend herself, Selena Quintanilla's fans are an inspiration to us all for their love and enthusiasm. It's happening! We are excited to announce the MAC Selena Quintanilla collection, available in 2016," the makeup brand wrote alongside the announcement.
Always a brand with A-list collaborations—think Miley Cyrus, Ellie Goulding, Rihanna as well as pop culture phenomena like Cinderella—Mac's themed lines never fail to inspire beauty junkies (or fly off the shelves).
Selena is an obvious choice for a Mac match, considering the singer was both edgy and elegant (like the best of the beauty brand's products). However, the reasoning behind the exclusive collection may stem from another source of inspiration entirely. And by that, we mean a Change.org petition.
"As a huge fan and customer of MAC Cosmetics and Latina woman, we want MAC Cosmetics to create a line that represents the community that shops MAC make-up," the petition reads. "Selena Quintanilla is an iconic legend in our community and would she be alive, she'd be a perfect MAC girl!"
Fans took to Twitter to sound off after the announcement and, well, they seem just as psyched as we are!
We'd have to agree with the more than 37,000 petition supporters: Selena is an excellent choice, and we can't wait to get our hands on the new collection.
