Of course, we would've wanted to hug Kevin Love anyway...but the sad face really has us feeling for the power forward.

At the 23rd Annual ESPY Awards tonight, Love's teammate LeBron James won for Best Champion Performance—an honor that admittedly surprised even the winner himself because the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

But an intrepid watcher caught Love's plaintive look at James spoke, the 26-year-old athlete apparently still not over the fact that a dislocated shoulder suffered in game four of the first round of the playoffs prevented him from being there for James when it counted.

"I really wasn't...you're right! Second place got me this, this wasn't expected at all," LeBron marveled when he took the stage.

To the Warriors, he said, "You guys inspired me once again, I needed that." He also thanked his fellow nominees and the athletes in attendance in general, and we kept waiting for him to thank his own teammates, but...

Hmm.

"Thank you to all my fans and I'll take this second-place award and I'll take it to my house, too, appreciate it," he concluded jauntily.

So it may have been a speech to forget, but like Chris Pine's lone teardrop at the Oscars, we'll always have Love's downcast blink.
