E! Style Collective member and celebrity hairstylist Laini Reeves shared her modern technique on how to create classic pin curls—a style beloved by starlets from Greta Garbo to Blake Lively.
Required materials:
Flat iron
Bobby pins
Hairspray
Boar-bristle brush

How-to:
The process itself is surprisingly simple, according to the hair guru, who's worked with celebs like Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Start with a two-inch section of hair. Around eye level, begin wrapping the section around two fingers, making sure to tuck the ends inside the curl. After removing your fingers, clamp the flat iron on the curl for 10 seconds. Secure the curl in place with a bobby pin. Repeat until you've done the whole head.
Once the hair has cooled, you can begin to unravel the curls, starting from the bottom and working your way up. As you brush out the hair, twist the sections for a natural-looking curl. Hairspray and finito—instant red-carpet-ready pin curls you didn't have to sleep in to get.
