The race to the altar is on: Dale Earnhardt Jr. is going to marry Amy Reimann!

The NASCAR driver revealed his engagement Wednesday morning on social media by retweeting Reimann and adding, "Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl." The bride-to-be tweeted about Dale's proposal first, telling her followers, "I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr." She added a picture of the diamond ring.

Dale's sister Kelley Earnhardt, who is vacationing with the two in Germany, also tweeted, "Adding another sis-in-law to the family! Happy for my brother and his future bride! Herzlichen Glückwunsch!" NASCAR also tweeted, "Retweet to congratulate @DaleJr and @Amy_Reimann on their engagement!"

The Hendrick Motorsports driver, 40, has never been married.

Dale began dating Amy in 2009, and he's been feeling pressured to propose ever since. "The people we interact with on Twitter are, 'When are you going to do it? Pop the question already,'" Dale told reporters at NASCAR Media Day in Daytona Beach, Fla., in February. "She gets it more than I do: People telling her all the time I need to put a ring on it. When I turned 40, it really ramped up. People are like, 'Man, your time is running out. Amy is a good girl, what are you waiting for?'"

At the time, Dale said he finds jewelry "creepy," explaining, "I'm not going to be held accountable [for wearing a ring] and she can do whatever she wants. I figure if we ever get to that step in life, I owe her that much. I'll have to put up with [her wearing a ring]. But I'm free of all my obligations in that regard."
