Lots of puking, irrational emotions and a bonafide boob obsession—all characteristics of newborn babies and fraternity boys!

Derick Dillard wasn't alluding to to any drunken shenanigans, but the 19 Kids and Counting star did compare his first weeks with baby Israel to his induction into the Greek system back in college!

In his latest DillardFamily.com blog post, Jill Duggar's hubby explained, "In college I was in fraternities, and I compare my last two weeks to somewhat of an initiation into fatherhood."

(No pointing fingers or thumping Bibles, y'all: Derick, like the rest of his extended family, abstains from alcohol. Also, cat-kicking incident aside, he doesn't seem to be the hazing type.)

In any case, the 26-year-old Oklahoma State University alum admitted that for him, "the learning curve has been pretty steep since Israel was born" on Apr. 6.

"Unlike my wife, I only have one sibling, my brother Dan who is 24, and there are no kids under 18 in my extended family," he explained. "Being the father of a newborn isn't always easy, but taking care of my son is so rewarding."

And dad's catching on fairly quickly, too! He's learned so far, he writes, "that since babies can't talk or walk, they communicate by crying."

So any time Israel gets fussy, Derick just runs thorough "a list of possible solutions," he writes. These are: "1) Ask him what's wrong, and then remember that babies can't talk 2) Change diaper 3) Burp him 4) Bounce him 5) Give him to momma Jill to feed 6) Repeat until crying stops."

"It has been a fast and furious transition, but I wouldn't trade it for anything," he added. "And as for my wife, well, she is a champion."

19 Kids and Counting airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on TLC.
