When the Avengers assemble in real life, things get wild!

In fact, Chris Hemsworth told E! News' Alicia Quarles he "can't remember" his first night out with his co-stars when they began filming Avengers: Age of Ultron, in theaters this Friday. "That's how good it was!"

Reuniting with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) "was great," he said during E! News' exclusive on-set visit last summer. "It's like catching up with old buddies. We've all seen each other sort of in between, at premieres or whatever, but not in this capacity. So to come back in full costume is something I was looking forward to, anyway." After all, Hemsworth relished the camaraderie they had in 2012's The Avengers. "It was so much fun."

The sequel introduces a few new characters, including James Spader's titular android. "It mixes it up. It throws us all off balance in a great way," he said. "You get used to each other's routines and each other's characters, and then in comes James, and he does his incredible performance and we all kind of get caught for a moment as an audience members watching what he's doing. He's brilliant."

Avengers: Age of Ultron explores many of the superheroes' backstories, due in large part to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, but Hemsworth promised that it will show a softer side of some characters, too.

"It's a bit lighter from Thor. I think we kind of went a little more serious in tone last time around [in 2013's Thor: The Dark World], and this one, we wanted to lighten it up," Hemsworth explained. "He's been on earth so he's a bit more grounded."

The actor added that there's more "fun to be had" this time around.

Watch Hemsworth joke about a "hazing test" for new cast members in the video above, in addition to explaining why he uses a few different hammers as Thor.
