Is Derek Hough done for the season?!

Dancing With the Stars fans were devastated to hear that the fan-favorite pro suffered a serious injury while rehearsing for the ABC reality hit's 10th Anniversary Special on Monday night, resulting in a trip to the hospital.

And on Good Morning America on Thursday morning, Derek's sister and DWTS judge Julianne Hough gave an update on his condition. And it's not exactly what fans want to hear.

"It is serious," Julianne said. "I know that he broke his toe on his right foot and sprained his ankle in two different places on his left foot trying to get ice for the toe."

Derek's injuries forced him to pull out of the performance for the anniversary special, which filmed on Tuesday night, and could keep him from competing with celebrity partner Nastia Liukin for the rest of DWTS' season. (Derek's understudy also had to step in for him in New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York, which he's been doing at the same time as Dancing.)

"He's super-bummed out because he's super-passionate about what he does and he wants to be there for his partner," Julianne said.

Derek is set to remain in Los Angeles to rehab his injuries, and was photographed walking with crutches on Wednesday while heading to a dance studio.

The same day, Derek took to Instagram to sound off on his injuries, writing that "a fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs. Can't believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell."

But Derek isn't giving up hope that he'll be able to return to the competition. "I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I'm determined to come back stronger than ever, " he wrote. "This is new territory for me , I'm usually able to work through injury but this one has literally floored me. But like I said before I'm determined to come back all gunz blazing ... soon!!!"

But until Derek (possibly) returns, the show must go on for Nastia, which means the Olympian will be rehearsing and (possibly) performing with Sasha Farber, a longtime member of the show's troupe, who also subbed in for Derek's 10th Anniversary Special performance.

"Derek will continue," Sasha said with confidence on Good Morning America. "He's a trooper, he's a fighter."

On the red carpet at the 10th Anniversary Special, DWTS pro Sharna Burgess told E! News, "Nastia, my heart goes out to her, just passed midway in the season, having to change pros."

DWTS airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
