Celebrity Deathmatch lives again. The MTV series originally ran from 1998-2002 and was revived on MTV2 from 2006-2007. The new version will again live on MTV2.

Celebrity Deathmatch creator Eric Fogel and Wasteland Entertainment are behind the new series. Paul Ricci and Chris McCarthy are also on board as executive producers. The new series won't stray too much from the original concept: animated entertainment and pop culture star will battle to the death.

MTV2 also ordered Kingin' With Tyga, a six-episode series about Tyga and his crew, and new talk show Uncommon Sense With Charlamagne tha God.

Celebrity Deathmatch is just the latest established series to get another chance at life. NBC recently announced a 13-episode Coach revival starring Craig T. Nelson. The network also has Heroes Reborn in the works, a new miniseries set in the world of Heroes starring Zachary Levi and Jack Coleman. The X-Files is coming back to Fox with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson suiting up as Mulder and Scully once again following the success of 24: Live Another Day. Meanwhile, Showtime is planning a new season of Twin Peaks starring Kyle MacLachlan set 25 years after the show originally aired.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the Celebrity Deathmatch revival news.
