Looks like everything's cool for Vanilla Ice.
The "Ice Ice Baby" rapper, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was facing grand theft and burglary charges, but his lawyer Bradford Cohen confirms to E! News that all charges have been dropped. He'll have to pay $1,333 in restitution and complete 100 hours of community service with Habitat for Humanity.
"Ice will have no problems completing the community service because he averages 40-60 hours a month already," he tells E! News. "Good things happen to good people, that's why there was such a great resolution to this case."
All charges will be dismissed in nine months as long as he stays out of trouble.
The case originally wasn't scheduled to be heard today, but the rapper and his attorneys appeared before Judge Samantha Schosberg just before noon to announce they had reached an agreement with prosecutors. The TV personality had been accused of stealing a number of items from a house in foreclosure that's adjacent to his property in Lantana, Fla. Among the items taken were furniture, a pool heater and bicycles.
The Vanilla Ice Project star voluntarily met with detectives and provided a sworn statement, after which, combined with corroborating statements and the evidence collected, he was taken into custody and charged.
After being released from jail, Van Winkle told reporters that the whole ordeal was a giant mix-up. "It's a misunderstanding; it was blown out of proportion," he said as he was leaving the Palm Beach County Jail, according to a local NBC affiliate. "It's sad that good news doesn't travel this fast. It's just out of proportion and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I've done."
He added, "It'll all get cleared up. You'll see."
