E! News has learned exclusively that in honor of baseball's big night, Chicago-born band Fall Out Boy will be performing on-field at the famous stadium for Opening Night's first-ever live musical performance on April 5. The rock band will perform three songs for fans before the Chicago Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals in the first official game of the season.
Fall Out Boy will be performing its platinum hit "Centuries" as well as "Uma Thurman" and "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)."
"Wrigley Field has always been a magical place to me. In some ways I can chart milestones of my life and growing up there – from going to see Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg play, to going with the my dad to the one of the first night games they ever had there, to the first time I took the 'EL' there on my own for a game with my friends," said Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy's bassist, in a statement.
"When our band all lived in an apartment together in Roscoe Village, we used to pass out fliers for shows at the Metro after games. It has been a lifetime dream to get the chance to play at Wrigley Field. We are grateful to MLB for the opportunity and so excited to perform for our hometown crowd."
The band's sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and reached No. 1 on iTunes in more than 22 countries. The boys will also be heading on tour this summer with Wiz Khalifa for their Boys of Zummer concert series.
